The Ultra Bear dual adjustable air mattress is a completely different animal than the Teddy Bear. Well, that’s not completely true because they are both “bears,” but they are very different mattresses, at least. If there is such a thing as a “traditional” air mattress, the Teddy Bear is it. The Ultra Bear is anything but traditional. Let’s start at the top – the cover. Rather than a traditionally quilted cover, the Ultra Bear uses a thin, unquilted stretch-knit cover. This is because of what’s beneath it: a three-inch thick, flippable, comfort layer made out of TWO high-end specialty sleep foams (or foam-like) layers. The thin cover allows the sleeper to maximize the comfort quality of these expensive specialty sleep materials. One side of the flippable comfort layer is made from visco-elastic foam, also known as memory foam. The other side of the comfort layer is latex, also known as latex (which is a kind of rubber). These two materials are very different. Latex as a sleep support material has been around for a long time, but up until recently, mainly in Europe, where it’s been popular since the 1930s. Latex provides firm yet luxurious support, and, in conjunction with the support of the air chambers just below this layer, creates one of the most supportive combinations possible. Really, it’s hard to beat.
One way you might beat it is to flip this comfort layer so the memory is on top. When you orient the comfort layer this way, you are combining the three most popular specialty sleep designs all in a single mattress. The air chambers provide the adjustable core, the latex provides a firm yet giving cushion that supports the memory foam, a heat and pressure sensitive material developed by NASA to cradle astronauts against the G-forces involved in space travel that will do the same for you when you sleep (without the space travel). When you have the latex side up, the memory foam works differently. Instead of reacting to your body’s heat, it only reacts to the pressure of your weight, combining with the latex layer above to keep your head and spine aligned by allowing your pelvis to sink while also keeping the rest of your body supported.
We’ve had the Ultra Bear almost as long as we’ve had the Teddy Bear (not quite, but close), but this version of it is fairly new; it’s been around for a few years now. Since the new model came out, we’ve sold more Ultra Bears than any other model, and it has been VERY WELL RECEIVED. Kind of unbelievably so. Let’s face it, this is a great bed.

When the memory foam layer is down, you don’t feel it. When it is up, you get that memory foam experience combined with the support of latex.

Because it can take some time for your body to adjust to a new mattress, we ask that you sleep on your new BearBed for a minimum of 30 days prior to making any changes. While in many cases customers rave about their new BearBed after the first night’s sleep, others will need a few weeks to get used to a new mattress. Trying your new BearBed for at least 30 days will give your body the chance to adjust to the new mattress.

If you find that you are still uncomfortable on your new BearBed after 30 days, contact us. There might be a solution that’s easier than returning and/or exchanging your BearBed. Let’s chat and find out

If despite our best efforts, you are still uncomfortable on your BearBed, you can take advantage of our extremely liberal return or exchange policy.

Customers must initiate the return and/or exchange prior to the end of the 120 calendar-day sleep trial.

Each air bed from Bear Beds is compressed and rolled into a single box. This means each can be shipped pre-assembled in one box via FedEx or UPS. Unpacking is incredibly easy. Simply lay the mattress on the foundation, remove the plastic wrap, unroll and unfold the bed, and plug it in. It's that easy!
